Liberia records Ebola death after country declared virus-free

A Liberian has died of Ebola in the first recorded case of the disease since a country at the heart of an epidemic that has killed more than 11,000 people was declared virus-free on May 9 after going 42 days without a new case.
The body of a 17-year-old tested positive for Ebola in Margibi County and authorities have begun tracing people the victim may have come into contact with while infected, Deputy Health Minister Tolbert Nyenswah said on Tuesday.
"There is no need to panic. The corpse has been buried and our contact tracing has started work," Nyenswah told Reuters. Margibi is a rural area close to the capital Monrovia, and is home to the country's main international airport.

Chichi Igbo celebrates legalisation of gay marriage in US

Former Super Falcon player Chichi Igbo is happy same sex marriage has been legalised in all the States in United States.

Surprisingly,the Nigerian in association with other gays took to the streets of Europe to celebrate the development. She was pictured with a flag dancing while celebrating the legalization. She threatened to block any of her Instagram users who blast her for her action. In her words,she said:

'Congrats to my American folks, love won PERIOD!!! Say anything dumb and get your ass BLOCKED!!! Try me'.

Kate Henshaw's house gutted by fire

The residence of the leading Nollywood actress in Lekki phase 1 area of Lagos caught fire on Thursday. The fire started around 3pm and neighbours struggled to put out the fire. According to witnesses, the outbreak might have been caused by an electric surge.

New condom changes color when exposed to STDs


A new 'smart condom' was created by a group of teenage students for the Teen Tech awards, which they claim will glow different colors if it detects an STD!

The creators said the condom will work with a layer of chemicals on the surface that will attach to bacteria and viruses from STDs.

A 34-year-old man, Solomon Ajisafe, has been arrested by the police for allegedly torturing his girlfriend, Tope Amuda, in the Igbo Olomu, Ikorodu West area of Lagos State.
PUNCH Metro learnt that Solomon, together with his mother, a leader in the Oodua People’s Congress, and some hoodlums flogged Amuda with canes for alleged adultery.

The Buhari Administration at the weekend declared that there are ongoing plans to implement one of its striking campaign promises that it will pay N5000 each to the poorest Nigerians across the country.

Students found dead after using sex enhancing drugs

Two students, a male and female of a University in Anambra State (name withheld), have reportedly died in a hostel room located near the school.
The female student is from Imo State. She visited her male boyfriend and they went in together on Saturday but never woke up until their doors were forced open by the
police after a neighbor raised the alarm.

Woman Kills Her Husband In Kaduna for Keeping Late Night

The police in Kaduna have arrested a 40-year- old housewife, Mary Luca, who allegedly clubbed her husband to death at their Gonin Gora area of Kaduna metropolis.

Family sources said the incident occurred last Friday when the deceased returned home in the early hours of the morning and an argument ensued after the wife’s complaint that her husband always returned home late.

“Mary had on several occasions accused her husband of keeping late hours outside the matrimonial home and had advised him to put a stop to such habit,” the source said.

Jonathan Receives Nomination For Nobel

Former President Goodluck Jonathan gets recommendation from the Africa Political and Economic Strategic Center (AFRIPOL) for the Nobel Peace Prize.

The public policy organisation on African affairs stated that Peace Prize be awarded to whoever “shall have done the most or the best work for fraternity between nations, for the abolition or reduction of standing armies and for the holding and promotion of peace congresses”.

The organisation also noted that: He may have not promoted “fraternity between nations” but he surely promoted fraternal peace among Nigerians by conceding power.’

In addition the group maintained that the concession speech by President Jonathan averted bloodshed, imbroglio and violence in the most populous country in Africa.
